Love in Sun City Teasers

If you've been following along with me on social media, you know I've been sharing teasers for all four of my upcoming books. Sounds crazy, right? But here's the thing. I don't actually know which order these books should go in.
All four books take place over the same month, with shared timelines and sometimes even shared events and scenes. That means they can be read in any order, which I hope will be a lot of fun! But, even though I would love to release them all at the same time, it's not really feasible.
So, I need your help! I'll be sending out a voting form in my newsletter to let my readers choose which book is first. One of the options will be choosing your favorite teasers, so I've gathered them all in one handy place so you can refresh your memory or check them out for the first time.

Introducing a brand new series!

I'm going rom com! This is probably one of my favorite genres to read, and I figured it was finally time I tried my hand at light and happy love stories. (Not that I would consider my other books unhappy, but they tend to lean more toward the dramatic side in general.) This book is definitely light and happy! But don't worry, because I've been told by early readers that there's still plenty of longing and page-turning swooniness.

I'm so excited for this one! I had the idea a year ago for a group of four men—known as the Wonder Boys—who "adopted" their friend's little sister as their own when they were younger, and I knew it would be fun to play with the idea of her falling for one of them. Who better than her brother's best and longest friend? Besides, I've always wanted to try a fake dating story.

Not only is this book chock full of fake dates, with all of the Wonder Boys, but the whole series will be centered around fake relationships! I wasn't sure if I could make that happen—fake relationships are difficult to make believable in the first place, and writing four distinct stories with different reasons has been a challenge—but I am so excited to get this series out in the world over the next little bit!

Love on Camera, the first book in the Wonder Boy series, is coming July 15th! The ebook up for preorder, and it will be available in paperback and to read for free in KU!

The Thief and the Noble now on audio!

This is such a cool thing for me! Only one of my earlier books is on audio because being an indie author makes things a little harder. Hearing someone else read my words, though? It's a surreal feeling! It seems to take this whole publishing thing to a new level, and the narrator on The Thief and the Noble did such a phenomenal job!

Even better news: the ebook is still on sale!

I don't know how long it'll stay at such a low price, so make sure you grab your digital copy now if you haven't already! :)

I'm so excited to be launching this new spin-off series that I'm making the first book absolutely free! I can't wait for the world to get to know this family, and I hope you have as much fun with them as I'm having as I write their stories. :)
***
Marianne Macintosh wants nothing more than to leave her sleepy little town and start her life for real. Trapped by her need to help her parents and their struggling ranch, she is pretty sure she’ll be stuck forever until a handsome stranger breaks down on the edge of town and bids on her in a date auction. He might just be her ticket out of Rockwell.

Lucas Hawthorne has been on the road for three years, trying to run from a past that is always right on his heels. Though he knows he can’t stay in Rockwell, there is one compelling reason not to continue on his way: Marianne. He can sense something special about her, and the helping instinct in him tells him she isn’t as happy as she seems.

Lucas and Marianne are pulled together by a stronger connection than either of them have felt before, and though they are both falling fast, Lucas has a secret he can’t—won’t—share because he knows it will ruin everything.

Marianne hopes he will eventually trust her with his past, because she knows it just like he does: they’re meant to be together for the rest of their lives.

Mental spring cleaning

I don’t know about you, but I love spring. (If you’re in the Southern hemisphere and moving into fall, don’t worry. Fall is my favorite. I’m envious.) Spring feels like everything is coming back to life—I guess technically it is—and I always feel like I’m coming back to life too. It happens every year, and I’m always a little bit surprised by this.
When in comes to my writing goals, spring has definitely been good for me. I got into a bit of a writing slump after I finished editing Let Go, and though I have had so many projects I’ve wanted to work on, I kept getting stuck and was about ready to give up on all of them altogether.
So I set aside all of the serious projects I had been attempting and I plotted out a silly little rom com just to get the juices flowing. And you know what? I wrote the whole book in less than two weeks because I didn’t care about how good it was, and it was so fun! And now I’m absolutely in love with the story and have three more books planned to follow, all because I gave myself a mental break and cleaned out all the pressure that was stifling my creativity.
Have you ever been blocked with something? How did you get around it? I would love to hear your ideas and share them with others! Comment below!

January is a time for goals, and one of my goals this year is to read more. After all, an author can’t be good at their craft if they don’t study it. So I’m reaching out to you guys. 2020 was a crazy year, but a lot of amazing books were released. What were some of your favorites? What might I have missed? What should be on my TBR list for 2021?

Real talk

I got my first two-star rating yesterday. It definitely won't be the last, and I'll probably get some one-stars at some point, and that's fine. Okay, yes, a part of me really didn't like reading what the reader had to say about my first book. Maybe my character was a little unbelievable, and I'll fully own how awful the ending is (I tried to write it differently, I really did). I'm not going to lie and say this review didn't hurt.

But you know what? I made a book. And I did it entirely on my own. And I'm proud of it. And I've spent a long time teaching myself to accept that not everyone is going to like what I put out there. I don't write because I want to please everyone. I write because I have to, and it's a part of me trying to be free.

That book may not be the best ever written, but it's mine, and I made it, and I'm proud of the time and energy and soul and bravery it took to get it out into the world. No one can take that away from me.

So here's what I have to say to all my fellow creators out there: You make things, and that's AWESOME. Not everyone in the world is going to love them, but if you love them and are proud of them, that's all that matters. Own your creativity, no matter what form it takes, and never let the world take away your passion.

No one else could make what you make, because no one else is you.
